hi this is Anita with five minutes with
0:10
art you know art is something which can
0:13
change the world in many ways and today
0:16
I want to talk about seven important art
0:18
movements there's you know there's many
0:20
different types of art movements but
0:22
these are maybe seven that most people
0:24
think about and the first one of course
0:25
is the Renaissance which really took
0:28
place from the 14th through 17th century
0:31
throughout different parts of Europe but
0:33
you might ask well why is the
0:34
Renaissance important why does the
0:35
Renaissance matter well the Renaissance
0:38
didn't just give birth to brilliant
0:40
paintings it sparked a cultural rebirth
0:42
and that's one of the reasons why when
0:45
we talk about art movements most people
0:46
will talk about the
0:48
Renaissance it reintroduced classical
0:50
philosophy it you know talked about the
0:53
human experience with through humanism
0:56
you know it fused science and art also
0:59
the Renaissance produced some of the
1:01
greatest artists that we think about
1:02
today it's really interesting if you do
1:04
a Google search today a famous
1:07
artist two artists that usually come up
1:10
on the searches are Leonardo da Vinci
1:12
and
1:13
Michelangelo and a lot of times you'll
1:15
see Raphael also up there these are you
1:18
know three artists from the Renaissance
1:20
era that even today people are
1:22
researching studying and checking about
1:25
that's why the Renaissance is so
1:26
important renaissance had a huge impact
1:30
even in our lives today in an art today
1:32
the other one was the Barack movement
1:34
which was from the 1600s to 1750 and it
1:37
was a propaganda sort of propaganda type
1:40
of art but with style it was born out
1:42
the Catholic counterreformation
1:46
it you know had intensity contrast
1:48
movement so you know some of the great
1:50
artistes of course one that's talked
1:52
about quite a bit is Carvajio he
1:54
definitely was one of the great artists
1:56
of the Barack movement so was Rembrandt
1:59
and Rembrandt again is another name
2:01
which you see searched many times for if
2:04
you did a search for great artists
2:05
Rembrandt will always come up there as
2:08
you know a lot of times will Peter Paul
2:10
Rubin's and many of the others that were
2:12
in this uh movement neocclassicism is
2:16
another movement which was from the mid-
2:18
17th and 19th century and it you know
2:21
clean lines classic themes moral stories
2:24
some of these artists here are not so
2:26
well known as some of the others but it
2:29
it really was a movement that did change
2:32
the world jacqu Lewis David uh for
2:34
example was one of the artists there uh
2:37
Jean August Dominique Ingores was
2:40
another one so they were also some of
2:42
them that you know were very important
2:44
during this period romanticism was from
2:47
the late 18th to the mid- 19th century
2:51
and in the area you have uh Francisco
2:53
Gao who's um a very famous artist that
2:56
you know most people again he'll come up
2:58
on the searches but when we talk about
3:00
the another great art movement after
3:03
probably renaissance most people think
3:05
about something as impressionism and
3:08
impressionism was also an art movement
3:10
that sort of changed the direction of
3:12
art when you think of impressionism you
3:14
think of artists as Claude Monet
3:17
Renoir Monat you know many of these
3:19
artists again come up again as in uh the
3:23
great art movement what you don't see on
3:25
here is a name of an artist which is
3:27
actually highly highly researched is
3:30
Vincent Van Gogh because Vincent Van
3:31
Gogh is not in considered to be
3:34
impressionist but postimpressionist
3:37
the next art movement that probably was
3:39
important after impressionism and
3:41
postimpressionism was Cubanism and
3:44
that's where you find Pablo Pagasio you
3:46
know as one of the great artists for
3:48
that time and the last art movement that
3:50
we have down is abstract expressionism
3:53
you know abstract expressionism really
3:55
took place in New York it it changed the
3:57
focus of where the art world was before
4:00
this time you know the art world was
4:01
sort of pretty much in Europe but then
4:03
after World War II this change started
4:05
happening um abstract expressionism was
4:08
the 1940s the 1950s you know New York
4:12
was becoming this great center of art
4:14
and some of the great artists of that
4:16
would be Jackson Pock who again if you
4:18
did a search of great artists his name
4:20
usually always comes up mark Roth you
4:23
know uh William Duning would be some of
4:25
them that are considered the great
4:26
abstract expressionism artists and you
4:29
know abstract expressionism had a great
4:31
impact on not only in art in America but
4:34
art throughout the world if you like to
4:36
be able to read more about these seven
4:38
art movements and like I said it's not
4:40
all of them it's just seven of them that
4:42
change that we feel like changed the
4:44
world even though if I would add one in
4:46
there that's not there now would be of
4:48
course Post-Pressionism with Vincent Van
4:50
Gogh because if you've been listening to
4:51
my my podcast you know he definitely is
4:54
you know one of my favorite artists i I
4:56
love Van Go i love his paintings i love
4:58
how he changed art but unfortunately he
5:01
was not in the impressionism movement he
5:02
was in the postimpressionism but you can
5:04
read our my blog post on seven art
5:07
movements that changed the world you can
5:08
see some of the art there and you can
5:10
